음성인식 내비게이션 Garmin nuvi 880

전세계 내비게이션의 1인자라고 하는  Garmin사의 음성인식 내비게이션 nuvi 880입니다.
미국 내비를 볼때마다 느끼는 부분으로서,
화면에 표출되는 맵이 왜 이렇게 초간단하며 썰렁할까?
화려한 그래픽으로 이루어진 세세한 한국 내비에 익숙했던 저에게는 항상 의문입니다.
국내에도 한달전부터 본격적인 음성인식 내비가 등장한걸로 봐서,
내비에서도 음성인식이 기본으로 자리잡을 날이 얼마 남지않음을 직감합니다.


음성인식률이 상당히 높다는 점과 운전자와 본체간의 대화방식의 음성인식 시스템이
제가 보았던 국내 제품보다 한단계 앞선 느낌을 받았습니다.
단순히 주소만을 인식하는 단계가 아닌, 운전자의 경로 검색방법 종류선택부터
지번까지 인식이 가능한 부분에서 상당한 호감이 갑니다.
단, 가격이 $837.00 - $1,071.41
너무 비쌉니다.

Garmin's nuvi 880 can be controlled using speech recognition, includes MSN Direct for real-time traffic, gas prices, weather, and more, can navigate to geo-coded photos, supports multi-destination routing, and a whole lot more.
=> 이젠 실시간 교통정보나 유가정보, 날씨정보는 기본이 되는군요. 구글처럼 태그 마크를 붙힌 맵정보도 인식을 하나 봅니다. 게다가 다중 목적지 탐색도 가능하다니 정말 좋습니다.

Sporting a new, dual-speaker design, the nuvi 880 is a significant update to Garmin's award winning nuvi GPS product line, and, all things considered, is probably the best GPS money can buy right now.

1. Specifications

The nuvi 880 uses the same high-quality screen found on the nuvi 700-series, weighs the same, and is only 0.1-inches wider and taller. The most noticeable physical difference is the nuvi 880 has two front-facing speakers, located on the right and left side of the display.

Also new to the nuvi 880 is the move from a non-serviceable internal battery to a user-removable, lithium-ion battery.

2. Garmin's new nuvi-800 Series

The nuvi 880 is Garmin's current top-of-the-line GPS, and introduces a new hardware design along with a slightly updated user interface.

The nuvi 880 has a bronze/gray border around the display, and an all-black plastic case. Except for the power switch on the top of the case, there are no visible controls on the nuvi 880. All operations are performed either via the 4.3" color touch screen or by voice commands.

Unlike previous Garmin nuvi models, which had a single speaker located on the rear of the device, the 800-series nuvis have two front-firing speakers, located on the left and right of the LCD display.

The nuvi 880 feels solid and well built.

The nuvi 880 has a user-replaceable, lithium-ion battery. The GPS antenna is located just behind the Garmin logo.

The power key is located on the top of the nuvi 880. Sliding the power switch to the left turns the unit on or off. Sliding the switch to the right locks the screen (so that no keys can be accidentally pressed).

The left side of the nuvi 880 is home to a headphone/audio out jack, micro SD card slot, and USB port for connecting the 880 to a PC/Mac. The USB port can also be used to charge the nuvi's battery outside the vehicle.

Note that all the maps and POI (Points of Interest) information is stored internally on the nuvi 880, so you'll only need a Micro SD card if you intent to load additional maps, or make use of the multi-media capabilities, such as the mp3 player or audio book player. Previous nuvi models used the more popular SD memory card (used by most digital cameras) rather than the smaller Micro SD card format.

Micro SD isn't as convenient as SD, since you're less likely to have an extra card laying around. As of this writing 2GB Micro SD cards are available online for under $20.

An external antenna connector is located on the bottom of the nuvi 880, as is the 34-pin docking connector. The external antenna connector is protected by a rubber cap, removed here in the photo for illustrative purposes.

Many customers will rejoice at Garmin's decision to switch from an internal battery to a user-replaceable, lithium-ion battery on the nuvi 880. In the event you continue to use the nuvi 880 beyond the life of the rechargeable battery, a battery replacement can be purchased for around $25.

The lithium-ion battery only fits into the nuvi 880 the correct way, thanks to plastic guides on the battery that prevent you from accidentally inserting the battery the wrong way around.

Once the battery is installed, slide the battery cover back on until it snaps into place.

3. 위 그림8에 34핀단자가 외장안테나 단자라면, 그 왼쪽에 있는 외장안테나 단자처럼 생긴 동그란 단자는 무엇인가요? (동영상 3분 51초 지점에 보면 dock connector 옆구리에 전원단자가 있음을 확인할 수 있습니다.)
